Stately Home Hog Roast in Oakington.

Last weekend, we had the great honour of catering a hog roast in Oakington at a well-known celebrity’s party in the grounds of a gorgeous stately home in the country. While the celebrity wishes to remain nameless here, we were kindly told that we were still welcome to describe the food for our blog. While I could spend all day talking about the fantastic house, incredible gardens and all of the celeb spotting that I did with my team members, we were of course there to do a job and it’s one that I’m terribly proud of – cooking and serving fresh, tasty, quality food.

We often cater for celebrity events, including private parties, and this one was booked after a word of mouth recommendation from another celeb, which is brilliant. Word of mouth is a great way for a satisfied customer to talk about our service, as it’s meant to be the most effective form of marketing. It’s said that negative word of mouth by dissatisfied customers can really damage or even destroy a business. Thankfully, we experience positive comments all the time and would always be more than willing to sort out any issues if they ever arose. We insist on excellence and believe that attitude and reputation should be just that – excellent.

For this event, the host went all out with an extravagant private party menu. This included a whole spit roasted turkey with cranberries and a sage and onion stuffing and our ever-popular spit roasted pig that we serve with apple sauce, stuffing, and lots of crunchy crackling. While the meat was cooking away, the guests started to arrive, so we served canapés such as wild mushroom bouchées, pâté en croute, Peking duck wraps and whole tiger prawns. Once seated, the fine smoked salmon starters were served and then slowly the queues began to form for the roasted meats that we dish out buffet-style.

To accompany the hog roast Oakington and turkey mains, were various fresh salads, tasty potatoes and soft bread rolls. Summer berry pudding and profiteroles were delivered to the tables and even though many guests protested through being full already, all the bowls came back just about licked clean!

After serving tea, coffee and mints, we quietly packed away the equipment and headed off home after another very successful event.
