Hog Roast Grantchester takes great pride in providing excellent service while serving tasty food that we prepare and cook ourselves, using fresh, quality ingredients. We’ve catered many kinds of parties and events over the years, both large and small and from formal to informal, for varying occasions, and we cater them all with the same high standards and attention to detail. We can handle large numbers just as easily as small groups, and we often attend functions with several hundred guests invited, just like an event at The Cass Centre in Cambridge recently.
The Cass Centre is a striking modern building that can be found on the site of the world’s oldest printing and publishing house – Cambridge University Press. The centre is hired out for conferences, exhibitions, business meetings, team-building events and much more, and on this day we were asked to cater for an event booked by Cambridge Assessment International Education, for 400 guests. As part of the University of Cambridge, Cambridge Assessment International Education offers programmes and qualifications that are recognised worldwide by employers and universities.
For this particular event, Hog Roast Grantchester was asked by Cambridge Assessment International Education to cook our highly popular Menu 1 of hog roast rolls, as well as some extra dishes. We can provide additional or alternative food so that all your guests are well-fed at your party or event, including options for vegetarians, vegans and those with a gluten intolerance. For this function, we would be putting together some garden-fresh mixed salads, our homemade coleslaw and 8 halal chicken options, as well as extra gluten-free rolls. The latter meant that any gluten-free guests could still enjoy the same pigs in buns as the rest of the guests, as all the other ingredients are suitable.
On the day of the event, Hog Roast Grantchester arrived hours before service in order to set up our equipment and start roasting the hogs. They take several hours each and we carefully watch over them as they cook and they then need a rest before carving. After hours of filling the air with amazing aromas, the queues began and we began to carve away.
