With classic films like the Godfather and Goodfellas, Scarface and Casino, it’s fair to say that the gangster film genre has become a staple in American Cinema. But what you may not know about gangster films, is that they go great with a Hog Roast! This was what Luke discovered when he decided to hire the team at Hog Roast Godmanchester to cater for his mafia film night. The owner of a trendy inner city bar, Luke has a spacious basement with room for film showings and performances, but he needed a way to feed his guests throughout the day.
He wanted something simple that guests could eat, mostly without needing cutlery, and chose our famous Pigs in Buns along with a selection of canapes and desserts. The options were: the Spicy Thai Chicken Kebabs, skewered with red and green peppers; the Handmade Gourmet Sausage served with a wholegrain mustard dip; Mini pizzas topped with sliced Greek olives; Mini Burgers and Mini Quiches as well as a selection of Chinese and Indian appetisers. Also for desserts: the Handmade individual Cheesecakes, the zesty Lemon Tarte or the dark Chocolate Torte, all to be served on disposable plates with high quality wooden cutlery.
There were four films, all by Scorsese, being shown for Luke’s mafia night which ran from about three in the afternoon. The team from Hog Roast Godmanchester had been on hand for a good three hours before guests started to arrive, and were ready to serve after the first screening. Some guests turned up wearing fancy dress, and our chef served them with a smile and a chat. The food was being kept warm under our fluorescent lights, and guests could come and go as they pleased.
The audience was louder and much more enthusiastic than your average cinema crowd, but the relaxed easy going nature of the viewing was great fun to be a part of. As the last film screened, the team from Hog Roast Godmanchester tidied away discreetly, disposing of any waste off site, but not before Luke thanked us for a job well done.
