When Rebecca and Nick asked Hog Roast Shelford to cater their engagement party, they had heard great things about us, which is always wonderful for us to hear. Having been recommended to us by friends who had enjoyed our scrumptious hog roast rolls in the past on more than one occasion, the couple knew they wanted to impress their guests no end with the sights and smells of a roasting pig, sizzling away to perfection. They were both surprised, however, when they asked us about our additional and alternative dishes, as they had invited two vegetarian guests to their shindig…
When it comes to ensuring that everyone can eat our homemade food, we’ve spent many years covering various special diets and personal tastes, so we know a thing or two about what to serve. We give you plenty of choice and variety because we believe that our customers and their guests are entitled to both, so when it comes to vegetarians, for example, we can cook tasty stuffed peppers or mushrooms or our own veggie burger, and in the summer months, our homemade quiches and tarts are popular. However, for a warming option in the chilly months especially but also all-year-round, our veggie skewers are a big hit with vegetarians, as they feature various fresh vegetables and halloumi chunks, and are accompanied by pitta bread and a yummy dip. We can even make them vegan if needed, too.
Rebecca and Nick opted for our veggie skewers to be served to the vegetarians and booked us in to prepare and roast a traditional hog and serve pigs in buns to most of the guests, as well as to put together chef’s choice of salads.
On the day of their engagement party, Hog Roast Shelford arrived bright and early and got to work setting up our equipment in the back garden venue, preparing the meat before setting it cooking. Sometime later, we grilled the skewers, made the three salad dishes and got all the pigs in buns ingredients ready, and before long, the happy couple and their guests were queuing up for a fantastic Hog Roast Shelford feast.
