As a caterer you get to be a part of many special events. Some get extremely creative, and we have the privilege of getting to join with that creativity and provide our own special ounce of style and craft to it.
One such was a goodbye party for a group of friends waving off their friend, Anna, before her grand American adventure at the end of the month. The group of friends opted to throw Anna a surprise party and drafted in the Hog Roast Fulbourn team to help contribute to their themed American night. We are typically thought of for more traditionally British roasts, but our special Southern Slow Roast menu is just the thing for such a theme, delivering on the traditionally smoky and spicy flavours of the American south style of roast cookouts.
The surprise party had been set up with all kinds of incredible American theming’s. Party games like beer pong and shuffleboard were set up; our chefs even took a quick second while it was quiet before the party started to try a few shuffleboard shots – much harder than it looks, we were informed! Red, white, and blue decorations adorned the venue hall, and the friend group had even dressed up as various American icons such as the Statue of Liberty, or even more amusingly, the faces of the Mount Rushmore presidents in an incredible group costume.
As for Hog Roast Fulbourn’s part in the theming? We made sure that the party looked the business as soon as Anna entered by having a massive spread of American proportions. Our Southern Slow Roast menu has massive dishes, such as our Louisiana stick pork ribs, Cajun spiced whole roasted chickens, BBQ pork butt, Texas style beef brisket, as well as your classic American sides like mac and cheese, corn cobettes, creamy potato salad, and some fries for good measure too. With our extra spicy sauces and smoky rubs, it certainly smelled and looked the part as Anna came in, completely unaware of the surprise awaiting her.
It was an excellent way to send Anna off on her adventure, and we at Hog Roast Fulbourn would just like to again wish Anna well on her jaunt across the waters!
