Once upon a time, bingo was one of the UK’s favourite pastimes, and for over forty years it remained in the top spot ahead of even sports like tennis! But unfortunately, the nation’s love affair with the low-effort hobby began to wane, causing thousands of the country’s top venues to close their doors for the last time and take the game into the virtual world. But bingo lovers need no longer despair as thanks to its devotees, the nights of hearing ”eyes down, ready, full house” from a real person are no longer over!
Before the country descended into a nationwide lockdown, Hog Roast Risby had a blast celebrating the revival of the game – though instead of stamping tickets, our team were serving up one of our famous meaty feasts which was comprised of a spit-roasted juicy pig encased in a layer of golden-coloured crispy crackling, homemade sage and onion stuffing, sweet applesauce and freshly-baked gluten-free rolls and wraps. Hiring our team was essential for pub-owner Rebecca as she knew our wholesome food would be a great way to get people in the door on the night of her bingo comeback evening.
As the highly-anticipated evening approached, the Hog Roast Risby catering team geared themselves up for a busy night by arriving at Rebecca’s pub early on in the afternoon, which gave them all the time they needed to bring our classic hog roast menu to life. With the meat resting in the Hogmaster Pro, the crew used the remaining time before the guests’ arrival to piece together the veggie skewers which they chargrilled over a low flame and served with flatbreads and tzatziki dip.
With people of all ages showing their enthusiasm towards the event, which had been modernised with a hilarious 21st-century make-over to the traditional bingo calls which resonated with the younger guests, Rebecca was glad to have Hog Roast Risby on hand to serve the food while her team kept the craft beers and cocktails flowing. As the night progressed, the pub was filled with laughter and cheers as participants threw themselves into the game and eagerly munched away at the delicious food.
