Catering For St Ivo School’s Sixth Form Ball

Hog Roast Duxford has catered many different kinds of parties and events over the years, from informal birthday barbecues to formal wedding reception meals, and from huge corporate functions in large venues with hundreds of people attending to a handful of guests in a customer’s back garden. These days, a hog or spit roast is suitable for any kind of occasion that you’re planning, including a sixth form ball, like we catered at St Ivo School in High Leys in Saint Ives just recently.

St Ivo School is an independent co-educational secondary school with sixth form and is designated a Specialist Humanities School. For the Sixth Form Leaver’s Ball, Hog Roast Duxford was asked to cook our very popular Menu 1 of hog roast rolls (which we call pigs in buns) alongside some new potatoes and a tomato and mozzarella salad. We offer plenty of variety to our customers, so you can always choose additional dishes when booking a hog or spit roast or we can even make alternatives instead. We have several menus to select from and you can mix and match items, and we also have dishes for any guests with special dietary needs, like vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free. Just ask us about our alternative options when booking.

Surrey - pig20 The venue for the sixth form ball was the One Leisure Trust Burgess Hall, which is a premier events, entertainment and conferencing venue in Huntingdonshire, about 20 minutes from Cambridge. The hall has more than 11,000 square feet across four main areas, features a fully-licensed bar and its own catering facilities, and can hold up to 600 people, so there would be plenty of room for the 200 guests at this ball.

Hog Roast Duxford arrived at the venue hours before service, to slowly roast the hog at a low temperature for several hours. The venue had been decorated beautifully, with confetti and balloons adorning the tables and big screen TVs on the walls. The teenage guests began to arrive soon after our hog roast was done, many dressed in suits and lovely dresses, and it was time to start serving up some gorgeous, hot, fresh pigs in buns.
