Lesser beings might be quaking in their boots at the prospect of catering for a corporate function full of foodies, but not Hog Roast Chesterton! When we were hired by a regional food and drink magazine to cater for a professional gathering of their sponsors, partners and local restauranteurs, we couldn’t wait to flex our culinary muscles and show them what we were made of! The event organisers wanted the full Monty-one of our formal 3 course corporate menus, with welcome canapes and table service, giving us ample opportunity to demonstrate our professional standards and to show off the high quality our locally-sourced ingredients!
Impressed with our selection of canapes, ranging from the traditional to the exotic, and the fact that they are all individually handmade from scratch by us, our clients opted for a combination of the above, including an eclectic but complimentary mix of mini gourmet sausages, Thai chicken kebabs and haloumi skewers for one of the meat-free options. Needless to say, the impeccably prepared nibbles went down very well with the gathering of gastronomes, as did our stylish smoked salmon, prawn and avocado starter, which was served to each of the guests at the table.
The Hog Roast Chesterton team continued to impress with our slow-roasted sirloin of beef and traditional hog roast for the main course, and without even breaking a sweat, our skilled chef was ready to carve both meat options, after timing the slow cooking process to perfection, ensuring they were ready to be served at exactly the right moment. With his timing as precise as his knife skills, our resident chef got several approving murmurs from his fellow professionals as they watched him effortlessly slice the blushing beef and succulent pork. Continuing with the variation of flavour fusions and styles of the canapes, we were asked to provide an equally far-reaching flavour sensation when it came to the salads. The guests had the happy dilemma of choosing between the classic Waldorf and the fragrant crispy Thai salads, both of which complimented the meaty mains perfectly, thanks to the intuitive ability our catering team has when it comes to matching flavours and textures.
All in all, it was a very successful event for both the food magazine and for Hog Roast Chesterton. We proved beyond any doubt that we can do formal as well as we can do fun when it comes to event catering, and we loved having the chance to show off what we can do with our fantastic locally-sourced ingredients to a room full of food experts!
