No matter how long you’ve been in a relationship with someone, plucking up enough courage to bend the knee and ask for their hand in marriage can be a daunting experience. Even with equality at the foundation of every modern relationship, men are still traditionally the ones to make the first move, but for lovestruck ladies who are tired of waiting around for their guys to pop the question, February 29th A.K.A. the leap year offers women a rare opportunity to reverse the roles. Even luckier still, 2020’s leap year fell on a Saturday, which dramatically increased the options ladies had when planning out their proposal.
Maria decided to make the most of the quadrennial occasion by proposing to Andrew, her beau of 7 years in the presence of 50 of their closest friends and relatives. Knowing that the best way to soften her lover’s heart before asking the all-important question was through a mouth-watering feast, Maria had gotten in contact with Hog Roast Kimbolton ahead of the event and asked us to provide the food.
As always, our team were all too happy to help, and after discussing the client’s needs for the event further, our Hog Roast Kimbolton catering manager was able to recommend our southern slow roast menu. The client was thrilled by the suggestion which offers a selection of drool-worthy meats and irresistible sides, all of which are inspired by classic American cuisine.
On the final day of the month, Hog Roast Kimbolton made the short journey to the couple’s home where Maria greeted the catering team at the door and welcomed them through to the back garden where they promptly pitched the gazebo and began working on the afternoon feast. Soon, the lip-smacking scents of BBQ pork butt, Texan 24 hour beef brisket and creole pulled quarter of spiced lamb wafted throughout the house which drove the arriving guests wild.
As everyone settled down with their first plateful of meats, which they paired with vibrant side salads, creamy mac and cheese and buttery corn cobbettes, Maria surprised her partner by getting down on one knee. Everyone cheered when Andrew replied with a simple yes before wrapping his soon-to-be-wife up in a hug and with celebrations in order, the attendees returned to the buffet table for a generous top-up and a glass of bubbly.
