We catered all through Christmas time with very little snow and last week we were catering in deep snow with Hog Roast Oakington! To think we are now in spring and are facing the big freeze. We struggled through slow moving traffic journeys taking much longer than usual but here at Hog Roast Oakington we reached every destination.
Last week we were catering outdoors for a the annual dog show the event was going to be cancelled due to bad weather but they decided to go ahead they had erected a huge gazebo and said ‘the show must go on!’ and we had to agree. We arrived in a snowstorm and it was bitterly cold but by time we had the two machines up and running we were nice and warm. On one machine we placed lots of chickens and on the other some jacket potatoes and sausages were put onto cook. We made some sauces and dips and some tasty fillings for the jacket potatoes. The show was in full swing and the dogs enjoyed the day and we knew for sure they were eyeing up our sausages from afar! After the show finished we had a queue of hungry guests the chickens were so tender and full of juices and the guests couldn’t thank us enough for the food and kept telling us that they were not expecting anything on this scale. We always pull out all the stops and deliver a first class menu the potatoes were light and fluffy and filled with luscious fillings we made the most amazing roasted vegetables a perfect feast for weather so cold. The sausages were placed in buns and we asked the owners if the dogs would like some as we cooked plenty and within seconds of chopping the pure beef sausages and cooling them they were gone!
We had a lovely day and the view was spectacular as everything was covered in a blanket of snow. Heading home took forever but when we reached home we were pleased that again we had made it and that night we were preparing for the next one the following day, no rest for us at Hog Roast Oakington but that’s what we love.
