Here at Hog Roast St Ives we regularly host private parties and corporate functions of all kinds. We’ve served our glorious Hog Roast’s in wonderful stately homes, out in the wild wilderness and in the shelter of people’s back gardens, and with our vast experience there really is nothing left that can surprise us. This week the team found themselves catering for the birthday party for an extremely special young man called Ben. We were first contacted by his Dad Ronnie, who wanted to make his son’s birthday a special one.
Ronnie spoke with us about the requirements of his event. There would be sixty guests comprised of Ben’s family and school-friends, and they were all to be fed with our glorious pigs in buns – Hog Roast served on crusty bread with a selection of sauces to choose from. As we were prepping for a children’s party, we also suggested the option of desserts and Ronnie immediately agreed, opting to serve the Chocolate Profiteroles. With the menu finalised, and the date, time and venue all sorted, there was nothing left to do but wait for the big day to arrive.
Our team from Hog Roast St Ives were on site at the party venue by mid-morning, well before the guests were due to arrive. We used this time to prepare the space for the party and begin the slow cooking process for the Hog Roast. The chef set to work butchering the hog and placing it on the machine, whilst our catering assistants laid down tablecloths, lit candles and hung Happy Birthday banners from the walls. Guests began to arrive by about one o’clock and were welcome to grab a drink from the function room bar, whilst kid’s had the freedom to roam outside in the field, where a Bouncy Castle and a goal post had been set up for them to play with. A couple of hours in and food was served. Everybody ate their pigs in buns from disposable plates and were welcome to come up for seconds.
Soon after, desserts were served, and the profiteroles went down a storm, for the kids and the adults! After another day of hardwork and remarkable service, there was nothing left for the team at Hog Roast St Ives to do, but tidy away their mess discreetly and dispose of any waste off-site.
