When new parents Lucy and Scott approached the Hog Roast Walden team about catering for their little one’s Christening after-party, they knew they wanted it to be a memorable occasion for the whole family, but at the same time, they had some concerns that a hog roast might not be a popular choice among all of their guests. Hoping to ease their worries, our friendly customer service team passed the couple through to our talented catering manager who assured them that our varied and extensive menus are not only created with all event styles and budgets in mind, but they also offer something for everyone by catering to different dietary needs. From our gluten-free rolls and wraps to our delicious, vegetarian and vegan-friendly alternatives, we take great pride in ensuring that everyone feels welcome at our events.
Feeling like a huge weight had been lifted from their shoulders, Lucy and Scott ended the call to have a closer look at the menus we have to offer before calling back to book our hog roast dining menu for the day. From the menu, the pair opted for our classic slow roasted pig to be served with apple sauce, stuffing and crispy crackling as well as locally sourced free-range chickens with chipolata sausage, stuffing and homemade onion gravy – sounds good, right?
With 150 mouths to feed, the Hog Roast Walden catering team arrived at the venue – which was a picturesque converted barn in the countryside – with hours to spare before the event kicked off, giving them just enough time to set up our portable equipment indoors and begin roasting the meats low and slow. While the hog roast and chickens were left to sizzle away on a bed of savoury stuffing, the team put together our highly popular homemade meat-free alternative of grilled vegetable and haloumi skewers as well as laying out the moreish side dishes which included a trio of colourful salads, warm new potatoes and jacket wedges.
When Lucy and Scott were presented with the buffet upon their arrival, they were overwhelmed with excitement and even the fussiest of their guests couldn’t wait to make use of the real crockery which had also been provided by the Hog Roast Walden team.
