At this time of year, most people are preoccupied with thoughts of Christmas and New Year. Well, not Sophie and Cameron! Having got engaged at Christmas two years previously, the couple had decided they wanted to plan their own winter wedding to give people another thing to celebrate at this wonderful time of year- and Hog Roast Shelford had been enlisted to help!
Sophie had been in touch with our Hog Roast Shelford chefs last October when she decided that if they were going to have a wedding at such a chilly time of year they would really need a caterer who would be able to warm everyone up and provide a delicious hearty meal, yet could still cater for a large number of guests. Having been recommended to us by a family friend and tasting one of our sample menus, Sophie and Cameron said it was like falling in love again and they just knew that Hog Roast Shelford were the perfect caterers for them which was a pleasure for us to hear.
Finally, after months of planning the big day had arrived. The wedding itself was taking place at a local church and we had been told to get set up at the reception venue and prepare for a serve time of 3 pm. The venue was a stunning stately home in the beautiful wintery British countryside. We had been fortunate enough to have a sprinkling of snow the night before and so the venue looked even more beautiful than it had previously and everything was coated in a small dusting of snow which glittered brilliantly under the fairy lights that had adorned the entrance to the hall.
We had been lucky enough to be given a spot within the kitchens from which to cater meaning we could keep warm whilst cooking. We had been instructed to expect around one hundred and fifty guests and the happy couple wanted a traditional three-course Hog Roast Shelford menu. This includes a whole roasted hog which would be sure to be the main attraction. Finally, everything was prepared and all we needed now was for the guests to arrive…
