Gemma and Nick called to arrange for us to cater for their wedding some time back. For their casual evening do, they wanted a hog roast in Barrington to feed 90 guests, various buffet foods such as cold meats and salads, as well as a selection of desserts. We’ve catered many weddings over the years and offer a variety of menus to suit different budgets, but we’re always happy to create a bespoke one for your particular celebration if you prefer. Being extremely experienced in event catering like this, we know how important it is to offer many choices and to also help the bride and groom-to-be to create exactly what they want food-wise for their special day.
Gemma knew she had always wanted a hog roast feast at her wedding reception, so the couple wanted to discuss with us what we could provide on the day. We can actually go as informal or formal as you like; it’s your big day, so you get to choose. We can provide a simple ‘pig in a bun’, where we roast the hog on-site, carve and serve in fresh rolls, alongside stuffing, apple sauce, and crackling, or you can enjoy a posh sit-down meal, where the hog roast is still served buffet-style but the other courses are served to seated guests. Gemma and Nick were happy to have an informal kind of food service where everybody helped themselves throughout the evening. We explained that while the hog roast could be carved earlier in the evening and some guests may want to eat it straight from the cut, the rest of the stripped meat would remain hot in our warming trays for guests to enjoy later on and we would still be on hand to put together the pork rolls for them.
Last Saturday, my team and I set off to the grand hotel venue for the wedding reception and set up our marquee in the lovely grounds. Gemma and Nick were so happy to see the spectacle of our hog roast, the huge pig cooking for several hours, all juicy and salty with lots of crackling. Most guests ended up eating as soon I carved, which I knew would be the case. People just can’t resist fresh, hot, roasted pork! A successful hog roast in Barrington!
