Hog Roast Crowland Catering A University BBQ for Charity

This week, the team from Hog Roast Crowland were contacted by a local University society responsible for organising leisure events for the students. We spoke to Hayley, a third year who was looking to host a small BBQ event that would raise money for the children’s hospice in the local area. She wanted us to provide one of our famous Hog Roasts for the guests, of which there were expected to be thirty people. The event would take place at twelve noon, outside in a small garden area on campus, meaning we would need to be there early and we would need to bring along our gazebo in case it rained.

Hog Roast CrowlandAt Hog Roast Crowland we slow cook all our meats, as this is the key to us achieving the most succulent of flavours and the crispiest of crackling. Not only that but we make sure to prepare all our meals from scratch, on site, using only fresh, raw ingredients, so you can guarantee that it will be tasty. On the day of the University BBQ, our team were on site from seven in the morning in order to allow for our cooking times. Our chef set to work butchering the hog and placing it on the machine, whilst our catering assistant set up the gazebo and laid out a few chairs and tables.

In addition to our wonderful Hog Roast, there were also games laid out for the guests’ pleasure, such as a giant chess board, a few tennis rackets with balls and even a DJ. As guests started to arrive at noon, our hog had roasted to a wonderful golden hue and we began our service. We served our Hog Roast in rolls, something we like to call Pigs in Buns. We also had a selection of sauces for guests to choose from.

The money raised from ticket sales to the BBQ, reached the triple figures, and Hayley was delighted she could help out the hospice in our her own small way. Her guests loved the entertainment and food that been laid on for them, and our team from Hog Roast Crowland tidied away their mess discreetly and disposed of any waste offsite.
