In the recent weeks, we were contacted by a local primary school who wanted to host a community book fair for not only their students, but all students from all primary schools in the area, in an effort to raise community spirits and enthusiasm for reading. At Hog Roast Yaxley we believe communities are of the upmost importance, as often the food we eat is best enjoyed with the people we love surrounding us, and so we were well behind the book fair.
We were asked to provide our famous Hog Roast buffet and serve pigs in buns to the high number of guests expected to attend. In order to make sure we had plenty of meat to go round, we brought our Platinum Hog Roast Machine as it can cook two whole pigs at a time! Not only that, but the rotisserie style cooking enables the juices to disperse evenly throughout the meat, ensuring a succulent, tender finish with a crackling as crispy as you’ve ever tasted.
Our crack team at Hog Roast Yaxley were on hand, hours before serving time in order to set up the machines and get the hogs roasting, as well as helping out the teachers to get their tables and chairs ready. Guests soon started to arrive in their costumes – as the kids had been asked to come dressed as their favourite literary characters! As the Hogs were roasting, we had many people coming up to us to comment on just how good the cooking smelled. They were all very eager to have a taste of our infamous pigs in buns!
Fortunately, the wait wasn’t long for our hungry guests as our team were well prepared, and when our stall opened for service, the queues quickly began. Everybody was raving at just how fresh the food was and we spoke to many different people about the potential of renting one of our machines for a future event. It was great to be part of a community fair as high spirited as this one, and fantastic to see such enthusiasm for reading!
